WE ARE NOT getting an early start to the day's hike to Slate Canyon. In the distance, the Tapeats and the Tonto, where we will be climbing, are already in full sun. The predicted high temperature this day at the river: 88 degrees Fahrenheit. That's not scorching by summertime standards, but we more typically hike in early March when it's usually about 15 degrees cooler. Prev. | Next
